Welcome to
The Cackling Witch

Hi I’m Lindsay and founder of The Cackling Witch!

I am the youngest of six children and I was born in 1971 in Footscray, Australia. My earliest memory of the paranormal is when my mum and dad took us our family to a spiritualist church, and I remember watching and listening in absolute awe as the clairvoyant sat on the stage holding a flower and giving a reading. My love for the paranormal and occult started then. One of my encounters with the paranormal was when I was at school, we were asked to do a five-minute speech for our English exam and my speech lasted about thirty minutes. I chose to talk about the paranormal and took my mum’s crystal ball into school as a visual aid. Whilst doing the speech, the books in the school library fell off the shelf, scaring the pupils and teacher. I passed my oral exam.  I grew up with my mum doing readings and a normal Saturday night consisted of using a Ouija board around the dining room table.

I’m from a Catholic background and attending mass on a Sunday morning was a typical family tradition, although I sometimes find mass dull as I disagreed with some Catholic beliefs. I still occasionally attend mass (not as much as I used to) but prefer to sit in church on my own with my own thoughts. I still believe in God regardless.

The paranormal and occult for many years has been quite a taboo subject, and only now do I feel that people feel relaxed talking about it without being judgemental.

Thoughtful and Insightful

One of my passions is to do psychometry readings, which I do using a personal item, usually a piece of jewellery. This involves picking up vibrations from loved ones so I can pass on messages to them. I feel I’m helping people communicate and give closure to people’s grief.

My love of the Pendle Witches grew when I moved to Clitheroe in 1997, I loved listening to the tales of the witches, and I used to imagine them walking over Pendle Hill and casting spells. I feel a massive injustice was done with these witches as they were probably the same as you and I; growing up with old wives’ tales and traditions.

My ultimate goal in life was to open a shop on the occult, paranormal, and witchcraft and spread knowledge of these interesting subjects. I love meeting people and sharing stories of paranormal encounters they have experienced themselves in life.

Would I class myself as a witch? Maybe? We all like to dabble in the unknown, well I do anyway. I don’t think there is any right or wrong way of practising witchcraft. It’s how you set your intentions.

love welcoming people from all walks of life, religion, and culture into our lovely shop.

The Cackling Witch - a shop established to remember the Pendle Witches of 1612 and retailing anything witchy.

Like the Pendle Witches we study the stars.  For example the zodiac is a belt-shaped region of the sky that extends approximately 8° north or south (as measured in celestial latitude) of the ecliptic, the path of the Sun across the celestial sphere over the course of the year
